TUM Senior Excellence Faculty (SEF)

Since 2007, the Technical University of Munich has been conferring the honorary title “TUM Emerita of Excellence” or “TUM Emeritus of Excellence” upon outstanding scientists after their retirement and continues to involve them in important tasks of the university.

Universities are constantly evolving. New scientific questions emerge, research fields develop, and new generations of researchers take on responsibility. At the same time, universities depend not only on renewal, but also on their ability to preserve and make use of scientific expertise, institutional knowledge, and established networks across generations.

In this spirit, the TUM Emeriti of Excellence (EoE), as members of the TUM Senior Excellence Faculty (SEF), contribute their scientific expertise, international networks, and academic reputation to the strategic development of TUM – independently, on a voluntary basis, and in a spirit of continued commitment to the university.
