Former professor of Haematology and Internal Oncology and Director of the III. Medical Clinic of the "Klinikum Rechts der Isar"
Former professor for Medical Clinic
Prof. Peschel (*1950) conducts research in the field of haematology and tumor biology. By understanding the cell biological and molecular basics of tumor diseases, the basis for an individualized, targeted therapy for patients with leukaemia and cancer ist to be created. Acute and chronic leukaemias as well as tumor diseases of the lymphatic system (non-Hodgkin lymphomas) are the focus of fundamental and translational research. Prof. Peschel studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck, where he habilitated in 1989. From 1985-1987 he spent a research stay in the USA with William E.Paul, Laboratory of Immunology, at the National Institute of Health. 1990-1997 he worked as a senior physician (C3 professorship) at the University Hospital Mainz.
