CV
Angelika Görg has received international recognition for her pioneering work in the field of proteomics. As a scientist, she made a significant contribution to the field of electrophoretic dispersion – particularly high-resolution two-dimensional electrophoresis for the simultaneous separation and quantification of proteins, which brought proteome analysis further worldwide. Proteome analysis is one of the fastest-growing areas of research in the post-genome age, as well as in the life sciences, and comprises the entirety of all proteins that, at a certain point, under very particular circumstances in a cell, are expressed from tissue or an organism. She brought insight into the complex metabolic and regulatory processes of biological systems and has reflected upon the physiological or pathological state of a cell. Additionally, she has, for example, furnished potential biomarkers and target proteins for pharmacological intervention. The protein universe is – in contrast to the static genome – highly dynamic, complex, different from one type of cell to another, and an analytical challenge. Investigating this dynamic system and publicising the results internationally was of fundamental interest to Angelika Görg. She has received numerous academic awards and directed proteome conventions worldwide. She works as senior editor and as a member of the editorial boards of many professional journals, and she is internationally sought out as a consultant. Angelika Görg was co-founder and long-serving member of the advisory board of the globally represented Human Proteome Organization (HUPO). She was member of the board of trustees of the newly founded Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) at the Technical University of Munich and a member of the commission for the Post Doc Mobility Fellowship program. Angelika Görg is currently Vice President Compliance at the Technical University of Munich.
